Search Addison County, VT Colonial Homes for Sale

This is a much shorter list than the one for Chittenden County and a rather different one. Addison County was settled early and farmed hard, so its colonials are more often genuine period houses on the village streets of Middlebury, Vergennes and Bristol, or set back on the farm roads with outbuildings behind them. The twentieth century centre entrance colonial exists here too, but in far smaller numbers and mostly near the larger villages. Greentree Real Estate knows which is which on sight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this list so short?
Addison County had far less subdivision building than Chittenden, so the twentieth century colonial that dominates the county to the north is comparatively rare here.
How old are the period houses?
Many date from the early to middle eighteen hundreds, when the county was first farmed intensively, and they carry the construction methods of that era.
What should be inspected?
Sill and frame condition, chimney and roof, knob and tube wiring, heating capacity with original windows, insulation levels, and the state of any attached barn or outbuilding.
